The beginning of a new calendar year is the perfect time to get organised and plan for the year. To help you get a head start, we’ve collected many of the key tax and financial dates that you, as a business owner, should be aware of in 2023. Keeping track of deadlines can help you to avoid penalties and feel prepared!
Bear in mind that the list below isn’t exhaustive and there may be additional or alternative deadlines that apply to your business. Your business accountant should be able to share information about the dates and deadlines for your business.

Deadline for paying first Self-Assessment payment on account for the 2022-23 tax year.

Deadline for Corporation Tax returns for the accounting period ending 31 January 2022.
Deadline to submit Forms P46(Car) to HMRC for the quarter ending 5 January – where benefits aren't payrolled.
Deadline for VAT returns and payments relating to the accounting quarter ending 31 December.
Deadline for digital remittance of PAYE, NICs and CIS.
Deadline for filing of accounts for accounting period ending 31 May 2022.
Deadline for Corporation Tax returns for accounting period ending 28 February 2022.
Deadline for VAT returns and payments relating to the accounting quarter ending 31 January.
Deadline for digital remittance of PAYE, NICs and CIS.
Deadline for filing of accounts for accounting period ending 30 June 2022.
Annual Investment Allowance to be fixed at £1 million.
The Energy Bill Relief Scheme and Energy Price Guarantee to end.
Deadline for Corporation Tax returns for accounting period ending 31 March 2022.
Lots of changes are coming into force on 1 April.
For instance, the Corporation Tax top rate will increase to 25% for businesses with profits exceeding £250,000. The National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage are set to rise, and the Energy Price Guarantee will increase to £3,000.
Final day of the 2022-23 tax year.
The 2023-24 tax year begins.
Deadline for final RTI payroll report for the 2022-23 tax year.
